Overview
Customers who run both 2" and 3" tape often ask whether a 3" tape head can run 2" tape. On a BestPack AC tape head, it can. You fit a mandrel adapter (part 10143) and you do not need to replace the tape head to switch tape sizes. This article gives the part number, the installation steps, and how to request pricing and availability.
Step 1 — Confirm Your Tape Head and Tape Width
Gather the following before you contact BestPack:
- The
tape head typeand position (top or bottom), from the label on the head. - The
tape head width(3") and confirmation that it is anACtape head. - The
tape widthyou want to run (2"). - Your machine
modelandserial number.

Step 2 — Find the Spacer Part Number

Step 3 — Install the Adapter
- Remove the 3" tape roll from the tape head.
- Slide the adapter (part
10143) onto the tape mandrel. - Place your 2" tape roll on the mandrel and thread the tape through the tape head.

ℹ️ No head replacement needed: The adapter lets the same 3" AC tape head run 2" tape. To go back to 3" tape, remove the adapter and load the 3" roll.
